Good to know before the party
Do guests need to download an app?
No. Guests open Spekto in their browser via the QR code or link. They don't need an account. You, as the organiser, sign in.
Do we need a big screen?
No. The photo feed works beautifully on mobile the whole way through. A TV or projector is an optional extra for when you want to see the photos together while the party's in full swing.
What happens to the photos afterwards?
Photos are stored for 3 months with Spekto or 12 months with Pro, from the event date. Download your memories before the period ends – then everything is deleted.
Can we choose what is shown?
Yes. You can turn on approval, so contributions are approved before they appear. And guests always choose what they take or upload themselves – Spekto never has automatic access to anyone's camera roll.
Can guests upload video, not just photos?
Yes. Guests can upload both photos and video — up to 100 MB per file — straight from their phone. Video appears in the feed alongside photos and is included in the ZIP download.
What if someone uploads an inappropriate photo?
Spekto has AI moderation that automatically flags inappropriate content. You can also enable pre-approval for full control. Or just let it run — most parties don't need moderation.
How many photos can guests take?
Unlimited! No cap on photos, videos, or guests. We've had parties with over 400 photos. Everything appears in the feed in real time.
How do I get the photos afterwards?
Download all photos and videos as a ZIP with one click — including a complete HTML gallery. Photos are stored for 3 months after the event date (12 months with Pro). You'll get a reminder 30 days before they expire.
Can guests leave comments?
Yes! Likes (double-tap), comments, and an audio & video guestbook. Guests can record a voice message or video greeting right in the browser — perfect for birthday wishes.
Can guests find photos they're in?
Yes, with MagicFind (Spekto Pro). Guests take a selfie and Spekto automatically finds photos they appear in — among hundreds of guest photos, with no searching or scrolling. The selfie itself isn't stored, only a mathematical representation is used for matching.
Does it work outdoors without Wi-Fi?
Yes. Guests use mobile data — it requires very little bandwidth. The big-screen wall also works over mobile data. Tip: use a phone as a hotspot for the laptop.
Does Spekto work for international guests?
Yes. Spekto is available in English, Norwegian and German, and guestbook recordings are automatically transcribed regardless of the language spoken. Perfect for parties with international guests.
